According to the police, the criminal networks in the county are a growing problem.

More young people are being recruited by older people who are part of the criminal networks and they are increasing in number, according to the police.

- We see that more very young individuals are joining these networks and that we can identify as network criminals, the number who leave is significantly fewer, says Peter Linde.

Hierarchical order

The networks in Sörmland are structured in such a way that they have one or more leaders who control.

The police say that there is a clear hierarchical order.

- Some networks are very company-like, but most of them are loosely composed, he says.

And that is why the police can not say how many networks there are in the county.

But in the survey that the police did last year, it turned out that there are at least 200-300 cybercriminals.

How do you work against them?

- It is a high priority within the Swedish police.

We work partly with security-creating initiatives in our vulnerable areas, but we also work actively based on the intelligence service's recommendations against designated individuals who we know have a high impact, says Linde.

New survey

This is the third survey conducted by the police.

Coordinator at the police intelligence service in Sörmland is working on a new survey that will be completed later this year.

- This takes place within the framework of the work towards vulnerable areas and it is a national work that takes place in all regions, he says.
