The hotel and restaurant union states that it seems unusually tough before this summer to find staff.

- Employers express that it is difficult to recruit staff when you now have to open up to a greater extent, says the Hotel and Restaurant Union's union president Malin Ackholt.

About a hundred vacancies in hotels and restaurants in Uppsala County can be applied for today at the Swedish Public Employment Service's site bank.

"Does not look so bright"

Several of the ads come from a giant player on Uppsala's restaurant map: Svensson's restaurants.

Among other things, they are looking for a number of chefs for their various restaurants.

- It does not look so bright right now so I try to solve "summer knots", says kitchen manager Martin Andersson.

Stefan Wahlstrand, who runs a restaurant in central Uppsala, has been forced to cut large parts of the staff since the pandemic started.

- We have also felt some concern about getting staff for the relief, but we were out early and it has been resolved now, says restaurateur Stefan Wahlstrand.
