Two Israelis - one of them a soldier - were wounded today, Monday, in a stabbing attack in occupied Jerusalem, while the Palestinian bomber was shot dead.

The Israeli police announced that two Israelis were wounded in the operation that took place in Street No. One in occupied Jerusalem, and confirmed that the perpetrator was killed after being shot.

For its part, the Israeli army announced that one of its soldiers was moderately wounded after being stabbed in occupied Jerusalem by a Palestinian.

The Israeli ambulance, in turn, confirmed that two people were wounded after being stabbed, adding that one of the wounded was seriously injured, while the other was treated in the field.

The Israeli occupation forces opened fire on a Palestinian youth on suspicion of carrying out a stabbing attack near the police headquarters in the area, where they closed it completely.

Palestinian media broadcast a video clip that showed the moment the Israeli police shot the perpetrator of the stabbing attack near the Sheikh Jarrah neighborhood in occupied Jerusalem a short while ago, which resulted in the injury of two Israelis, one of them in serious condition.

The operation comes amid tensions in occupied Jerusalem, in light of the continuous Israeli attacks on the Sheikh Jarrah neighborhood and Al-Aqsa Mosque.

Al-Khatib's detention extended

On the other hand, Al-Jazeera correspondent reported that the Israeli Magistrate’s Court in Haifa today extended the detention of Sheikh Kamal Al-Khatib, Vice President of the Islamic Movement inside the Green Line, pending investigation for another five days.

Activists organized a stand in solidarity in front of the court in solidarity with Al-Khatib, raising pictures and banners condemning the arrest and demanding his immediate release.

Last Thursday, the same court extended the detention of the Palestinian leader in the Green Line for four days.

At the time, the "Arab48" website quoted Al-Khatib's lawyer as saying that the suspicions that the Israelis raise against his client revolve around his membership of a "terrorist organization", his assuming an administrative or functional position in it, and encouraging "terrorist acts."

The Israeli police arrested al-Khatib ten days ago, after storming his house in the town of Kafr Kanna in the Galilee, for allegedly inciting demonstrations against the occupation.

His arrest sparked clashes in Kafr Kanna and protests in other areas within the Green Line.
