23 May 2021Belgian Victor Campenaerts wins the 15th stage of the Giro d'Italia by beating Dutch Oscar Riesebeek at the finish line in Gorizia. In the pouring rain, two protagonists of the day's breakaway, which included thirteen other riders, fought for the victory. At 7 "the German Nikias Arndt burns Simone Consonni; Dario Cataldo sixth with the same time.



The group let go of the escape, as it did not have men in the classification, and reached the finish line 17'21" late, also due to of the sudden downpour that hit the route, which recommended safe gaits. The Colombian Bernal always in the pink jersey.   



This is the 15th stage from Grado to Gorizia for 147 km. After crossing Monte San Michele, you entered a circuit to be repeated three times, with the tear of the Gornje Cerovo-Cerò di Sopra, in Slovenian territory.



Group fall after just 2 km; running suspended for half an hour. Fourteen riders were involved, including the German Emanuel Buchmann, sixth in the general classification, forced to retire. Having resolved the situation, the race direction has restarted the stage.

Now the Giro climbs from Sacile to Cortina d'Ampezzo, 212 km with the Crosetta (1,118 meters) at the start and then the Fedaia Passes (2,057 meters), Pordoi (2,239 meters, Cima Coppi) and Giau (2,233 meters) placed less 20 km from the finish. The ascent meters are 5,700. it is the most feared stage, which could give fundamental indications on the final victory.
