“We expect that Russian-American cooperation on Arctic issues within the council will continue during the upcoming Russian presidency of the council,” Berniket quoted TASS as saying.
The American side is focused on environmental issues, she said.
She noted that the Arctic Council is the main forum for discussing and regulating regional issues.
Earlier, Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov held a telephone conversation with US Secretary of State Anthony Blinken, they discussed the interaction of the two countries in the Arctic Council in light of the transfer of the chairmanship in this structure to the Russian Federation.
