Region Sörmland does not yet know for sure why it looks like this, but according to the infection control doctor Signar Mäkitalo, there are several possible explanations.

Older population

Among other things, the age of the population can play a role.

Sörmland has a larger proportion of people who are 65 years or older compared to the national average, according to figures from Regionfakta.

But Eskilstuna in particular has slightly fewer in that age group, which also means that fewer have been offered vaccines.

In the clip above, Signar Mäkitalo talks about it and some other possible explanations for why Eskilstuna stands out.
