Currently, only 54 percent of 15-year-old girls and 27 percent of boys of the same age in Germany are fully vaccinated against HPV. The World Health Organization (WHO) and the EU are pursuing the goal of achieving a vaccination rate of at least 90 percent for girls and a significant increase for boys by 2030. According to the Robert Koch Institute, HPV infection is one of the most common sexually transmitted infections.
