Since November 1939, the six-lane drawbridge over the Göta River has been an important crossing for all types of road users.

Buses, trams, pedestrians, cyclists and motorists.

But now it is just a memory, at least for all traffic except the tram traffic that will remain until the beginning of June.

Demolition will start in June

The crossing will then be replaced by buses until the trams will start operating on the new Hisingsbron in mid-August.

The demolition of the Götaälv bridge will begin in mid-June 2021 and will be completed during the summer of 2022.

Hear in the clip some of the very last motorists over the Götaälv bridge.
