Mainz (dpa / lrs) - The seven-day incidence in Rhineland-Palatinate rose slightly on Sunday - at 99.8, according to the state investigation office, it was still below the 100 mark (as of 11.13 a.m.).

The incidence shows the number of new infections per 100,000 inhabitants within the previous seven days; on Saturday it was 96.7 in Rhineland-Palatinate.

The health authorities in the country registered 448 new infections with the Sars-CoV-2 virus.

According to the data, around 14,200 people in Rhineland-Palatinate are currently infected with the corona virus.

3,614 people died in connection with an infection - one more than the previous day.

According to the figures from the Robert Koch Institute (RKI) on Sunday (as of 3.12 a.m.) in the city of Ludwigshafen, which is decisive for the federal emergency brake, the highest seven-day incidence was in the city of Ludwigshafen at 169.5.

This is followed by Speyer (150.3) and the district of Birkenfeld (145.8).

The pandemic began in Rhineland-Palatinate at the end of February 2020 with a positive test in Koblenz.

Since then, 145,704 people in the state have been proven to have been infected with Sars-CoV-2.
