The Russian Ministry of Health has included two Russian vaccines in its recommendations for the prevention of coronavirus infection.

This is stated in a message on the agency's website.

The Ministry approved a new version of the Interim Guidelines for the Prevention, Diagnosis and Treatment of COVID-19, prepared by experts "taking into account the accumulated scientific data and clinical practice."

"The section on specific prevention of infection in adults has been supplemented with information on the inactivated whole-virion concentrated purified coronavirus vaccine" CoviVac "and the Sputnik Light vaccine for the prevention of COVID-19," the message says.

The department said that according to the results of the analysis, promising and sufficiently studied drugs were approved for use, and drugs that showed low efficiency are excluded from the list of recommended ones.

So, for patients with coronavirus who are in inpatient treatment, the use of immunoglobulin is recommended.

For anti-inflammatory therapy in adults, it is possible to use a glucocorticosteroid in the form of a powder for inhalation, the department specified.

At the same time, hydroxychloroquine was excluded from the list of possible drugs for the treatment of COVID-19.

Meanwhile, the Minister of Health of Slovakia, Vladimir Lengvarsky, said that a specialized Hungarian laboratory has confirmed the reliability of the consignment of the Sputnik V vaccine received in Slovakia.

"The results of a study of the Russian Sputnik V coronavirus vaccine conducted in Hungary are in order," TASS quoted him as saying.

On April 25, the Russian Direct Investment Fund announced that the Hungarian authorities provided data on the safety and effectiveness of five vaccines against coronavirus, among which Sputnik V showed the best results.

According to the data presented, the Russian drug showed the best results in terms of both safety and effectiveness.

In addition, on April 19, the fund reported that, according to the analysis of data on 3.8 million vaccinated Russians, the effectiveness of Sputnik V was 97.6%.

In a joint statement by the RDIF and the Gamaleya Center, which was at the disposal of RT, it was clarified that according to the vaccination data, 3.8 million Russian citizens fully vaccinated with both components of the vaccine in the period from December 5, 2020 to March 31, 2021, the incidence starting from 35 the th day from the date of the first injection was only 0.027%.

The head of the RDIF, Kirill Dmitriev, recalled that the data previously presented by the authoritative medical journal The Lancet showed the effectiveness of the vaccine at 91.6%.

“As the analysis of the morbidity data of almost 4 million vaccinated Russians shows, the effectiveness of the vaccine is even higher and reaches 97.6%.

Such indicators make it possible to assert with confidence that Sputnik V provides one of the best indicators of protection against coronavirus infection among all vaccines in the world, ”Dmitriev said.

We will remind, from January 18 in Russia began mass vaccination against coronavirus infection. 

There are currently four COVID-19 vaccines registered in the country.

So, in August, Russia was the first in the world to register the Sputnik V vaccine, which was developed by the specialists of the Gamaleya Center.

Later, two more Russian vaccines were registered - "EpiVacCorona" by the "Vector" center and "KoviVac" by the Federal Scientific Center for Research and Development of Immunobiological Preparations named after M.P.

Chumakov RAS.

In addition, a single-component vaccine "Sputnik Light" was registered in Russia on May 6.

On May 6, Russian President Vladimir Putin announced that Russian drugs for COVID-19 are based on well-known technologies that have been used for decades.

As the head of state emphasized, according to one of the European experts, Russian vaccines against COVID-19 are as reliable as a Kalashnikov assault rifle.

The situation with coronavirus in Russia

Over the past day, 8386 new cases of coronavirus infection were detected in Russia, of which the largest number is in Moscow (2846) and St. Petersburg (722).

Over the past 24 hours, 8022 people have recovered in the country, 376 patients have died from complications that developed against the background of COVID-19, and concomitant diseases.

The total number of cases of coronavirus registered in Russia has reached 4,863,514, since the beginning of the pandemic, 112,622 people have died, 4,480,360 patients have recovered from the disease.

According to the press service of Rospotrebnadzor, more than 130.8 million laboratory tests have already been carried out in the country for the presence of the virus.
