Potsdam (dpa / bb) - Turbine Potsdam has recorded the first exit.

According to a report by “Sportbuzzer”, Johanna Elsig will leave the club after nine years at the end of the current season of the women's Bundesliga.

"It is very difficult for me to turn down the really good offer to extend the contract," Elsig was quoted as saying.

And the defender went on to say: "Ultimately, I would like to take a completely new path in my career."

The 15-time national player has been linked to a move to France.

Turbine managing director Stephan Schmidt makes no secret of the fact that they would have liked to continue working with Elsig.

«We did everything to keep Jojo with us.

We very much regret your change, ”said Schmidt.

The 28-year-old came to the Havel from Bayer Leverkusen for the 2012/13 season.

Under the coaches Bernd Schröder and Matthias Rudolph she matured into a personality in central defense and was co-captain in recent years.

In Elsig, Turbine loses one of the league's most dangerous headers.

Elsig has scored 26 goals in 174 league games to date.
