Büsum (dpa / lno) - Schleswig-Holstein's Environment Minister Jan Philipp Albrecht (Greens) inaugurated a world heritage pillar in Büsum in the Dithmarschen district on Thursday.

Analogous to advertising pillars with advertising messages, the information pillars showed nature conservation messages, said Albrecht.

Similar pillars are also to be set up in Lower Saxony as well as in Denmark and the Netherlands.

According to the information, a total of 83 columns provide information about the Unesco World Heritage Wadden Sea along the west coast of Schleswig-Holstein.

30 of them are newly installed and the older ones have been technically revised.

The aim of the pillars is to encourage people to deal sustainably with nature, said the head of the Schleswig-Holstein Wadden Sea National Park, Michael Kruse.

According to the Ministry of the Environment, the total costs for the renewal and new construction of the pillars amount to 220,000 euros.

Around 165,000 euros of this come from the European Regional Development Fund.

The National Park Foundation contributed 33,000 euros to the project.
