The city of Nice is taking a new turn and is embarking on luxury tourism to stick to its project for a new Exhibition and Convention Center which will open at the end of 2024. The hotels have therefore been given a facelift to welcome a high-end clientele and competes with its neighbors Cannes or Monaco.

France is actively preparing for the reopening after several weeks of confinement linked to the health crisis and some cities have wasted no time.

This is the case of Nice, which took advantage of this white year to review the tourism strategy of the whole city.

The emphasis has therefore been placed on luxury as well as on major world congresses, and hotels have had a facelift to move upmarket.

Enough to find a place on the coast and compete with destinations that focus on the same niche.

A more competitive city 

Throughout the city, work has been undertaken to complete this project. Helmet on his head, Christian Estrosi, the mayor of Nice, visits the construction site of a palace where everything has been renovated, from the basements to the panoramic terrace. "Within three years, we will have about 3,000 more high-end rooms. This represents a potential annual figure of nearly 200 million euros and a capacity to create 800 jobs. If these investments are positioned. in Nice, it is because the city has gained in competitiveness and that we have known and identified projects, ”explains the city councilor.

Among these projects, a brand new Exhibition and Convention Center which will open its doors at the end of 2024. To welcome upscale customers, Nice is in fact making its hotel revolution.

A good opportunity according to Eric Talou, general manager of the Crowne Plaza establishment, which has just opened.

"The hotel stock in the whole of the city is being built or renovated. Four stars will become five stars in the center of Nice. This leads to the creation of jobs and wealth. Submit an offer international hotel industry also gives a certain visibility, ”he believes.

An observation shared by Stéphane Villard, director of the emblematic Plaza, a stone's throw from Place Masséna. "The hotel closed its doors a little over two years ago and the project was already to reopen it in five stars. Nice needed to expand its hotel level a little bit", judges the latter. Because like Monaco and Cannes, the city also intends to become a luxury destination.
