Wörth / Karlsruhe (dpa) - The derailment of two freight train wagons in the Palatinate has led to the railway line between Wörth and Karlsruhe being blocked.

On Tuesday it was initially unclear when the connection could be used again.

"We must first check the damage to the infrastructure," said a spokeswoman for Deutsche Bahn.

During a shunting trip on railway grounds, one wagon of a freight train was completely derailed and another wagon partially derailed on Monday evening.

The route between Wörth and Karlsruhe was closed and an emergency bus service was set up between Wörth and Lauterbach.

According to the railway spokeswoman, no one was injured in the accident.

A crane was on its way to the accident site on Tuesday.

“We then have to see what needs to be repaired.

We may be able to release the line at least on a single track, ”said the spokeswoman.

Restrictions in regional traffic are still to be expected for the time being.
