Do you usually wash the car in the garage driveway when the spring weather comes? Then it may be a good time to stop. According to an assessment made by Svenskt Vatten, approximately 1,000 tonnes of oil and 50 tonnes of heavy metals are released annually into Swedish watercourses and lakes.
- In the worst case, place the car on a grass surface, then most heavy metals are filtered out and the oil breaks down over time, says Anders Finnson, environmental expert at the organization Swedish Water.
