Munich (dpa / lby) - A man with a knife and a blank gun in an ICE to Munich has triggered a large-scale police operation.

A passenger reported a man to the train driver on Friday afternoon who had a gun with him, looked confused and drunk, the federal police said.

The platoon leader then notified the emergency services.

They diverted the train to the outside area of the station and evacuated a canteen and a platform there.

When the train pulled in, the federal police, equipped with heavy protective equipment and helmets, arrested the 38-year-old.

According to the spokeswoman, the weapon turned out to be a blank gun.

The man also carried a jackknife.

He is now being investigated for violations of the weapons law.

The man admitted that he had been drinking.

Why he was carrying the weapons is still being determined, said the spokeswoman.

Around 120 people sat on the train from Ingolstadt.

Since the man did not behave aggressively on the way, it was decided after the emergency call to let the train continue and to put the man in the station, said the spokeswoman.

Around 60 people in the station were affected by the eviction.
