The plaintiffs are planning to proceed with the appeal procedure on the 23rd, saying that the Korean district court has rejected the complaints of former comfort women seeking damages from the Japanese government, saying, "Restoring the human rights and honor of the victims." Clarified.

In a trial in which a former comfort woman and bereaved family in South Korea sought damages from the Japanese government, the Seoul Central District Court in the first instance said on the 21st that the sovereign state would not be subject to the jurisdiction of other countries. Judging that the above principle of "sovereign immunity" applies, he sentenced the plaintiff to dismiss the complaint.

While the Japanese government evaluated the decision as a valid decision, the plaintiffs strongly opposed it.

The plaintiffs criticized the ruling again on the 23rd, saying, "I completely ignored the voices of the victims who screamed for truth and peace, and severely trampled on the value of human rights."

He added, "We will not give in and stand up to reestablish historical justice. We will discuss with the victims and their bereaved families and proceed with appeals to restore the human rights and honor of the victims."

Regarding the comfort women issue, the same Seoul Central District Court ruled in another trial in January that ordered the Japanese government to compensate, but the Japanese government said that it clearly violated international law, etc. We consistently demand that we take appropriate action responsibly.
