Nuremberg (dpa / lby) - Club legend Marek Mintal has said goodbye to 1. FC Nuremberg with emotional words.

The earlier goal “Phantom” had “great times” in Franconia on Friday, according to its own account.

He experienced “a dream time in terms of sport and human beings”.

"The love just fit."

The former Bundesliga top scorer and current U21 coach will be the assistant coach of the Slovak national soccer team.

While the Nuremberg U21s haven't played in the Regionalliga Bayern for months, Mintal's home country is looking forward to the European Championship this summer.

The 43-year-old has been working as an assistant coach for Slovakia since 2020.

"Every moment, every second was simply wonderful and outstanding for me," said Mintal, who had switched from his hometown club MSK Zilina to FCN in 2003.

With 24 goals in 2005, he won the Bundesliga top scorer cannon.

After 2013, Mintal worked in various coaching positions for the Franconians.

"We part neatly and honestly."

As a result, a return is conceivable at some point.
