Werdohl (dpa / lnw) - Two children playing found skeletal parts of a human corpse on the banks of the Verse river near Werdohl (Märkischer Kreis).
The nine and eleven-year-old girls picked up garbage there on Tuesday, wanted to clean it up on the riverbank and in the forest before they made the gruesome discovery.
"There are bones of human origin," said a police spokesman on Thursday.
The identity of the body is still unclear.
Likewise, whether it is a woman or a man.
The decay of the corpse was already well advanced, and possible animal damage made identification impossible so far.
"We assume that the body was there for several months," a police spokesman continued.
"So far there is no evidence of third-party debt."
According to him, an autopsy was arranged to find clues as to the identity and circumstances of death.
The DNA should also be compared in corresponding files.
