Potsdam (dpa / bb) - According to the Ministry of Health, the number of new corona cases in Brandenburg has risen significantly again with 554 infections within one day.

There were 208 infections on Tuesday and 290 confirmed infections on Monday.

The numbers will be reported by the health authorities with a delay after the weekend.

The number of infections per 100,000 inhabitants within one week fell slightly across the country from 141.0 to 138.5.

A week ago the value was 143.6.

The Spree-Neisse district (219.0) and the independent city of Cottbus (201.6) were above the seven-day incidence of 200 on Wednesday, as the Ministry of Health announced. From 200 new corona infections per 100,000 inhabitants in one week in rural districts or urban districts, all schools must be closed from this Wednesday - with the exception of the final classes and special needs schools. The high school exams also began on this Wednesday.

With the exception of the rural districts of Barnim (83.7) and Ostprignitz-Ruppin (92.0), all districts and urban districts had a seven-day incidence of 100. When this mark was reached, tightened measures have been in place since Monday: These include the closure of the Most shops as well as cultural and leisure facilities, but also a night exit restriction from 10 p.m. to 5 a.m. and stricter contact restrictions due to the so-called emergency brake.
