Nuremberg (dpa / lby) - The Nuremberg Bardentreffen is canceled due to the corona pandemic for this summer to its usual extent as in the previous year.

But it should at least take place in special formats.

As a replacement for the music festival, a stage program is planned on Dutzendteich and on the outskirts of the old town, a city spokesman said on Friday.

World music artists and singer-songwriters will perform at the floating stage at Dutzendteich from June 30th to July 4th.

Starting in mid-June, local artists are expected to play on a “summer stage” at Spittlertor for six weeks.

The city wants to support the badly shaken cultural industry and give people "at least a bit of the feeling of life" that is currently missing so much, said Mayor Marcus König (CSU).

Concerts had already been played at the Dutzendteich last year.

Back then, visitors could watch from boats.

The bard meeting was actually planned from July 30th to August 1st in Nuremberg.

According to the city, it attracts up to 200,000 visitors and artists to Nuremberg's old town every year.

In its regular form, the festival is now again planned for the end of July 2022.
