He recalled that in 2016-2017, Russian engineering troops conducted demining operations in the cities of Aleppo, Deir ez-Zor and Palmyra.
“We continue to actively assist the Syrians in clearing mines and explosives from areas liberated from terrorists and extremists,” TASS quoted him as saying.
The diplomat also said that in general, Russian military specialists have cleared more than 6.5 thousand hectares of Syrian territory and more than 17 thousand objects.
Including more than 105 thousand explosive objects were neutralized.
According to him, the Russian side is working to mobilize international efforts to eliminate the mine threat in the Syrian Arab Republic.
