Erfurt (dpa / th) - The entry of general practitioners into the vaccination campaign has accelerated the corona vaccinations in Thuringia.

As the ministry announced on Thursday, a total of more than 16,500 people were vaccinated on Wednesday, around 7,500 of them in general practitioners' practices.

Almost 14,000 people received a primary vaccination.

This means that 15 percent of people in Thuringia have received at least the first vaccination against Covid-19, and 6.3 percent for second vaccinations.

With both values, Thuringia is among the top nationwide and well above the national average (13.8 and 5.7 percent, respectively).

Health Minister Heike Werner (left) spoke of a great success.

The practices used almost half of the vaccine delivered in just one day.

"But that also shows that a lot more could be vaccinated in Thuringia if we had more vaccine."

That is why Prime Minister Bodo Ramelow (left) was right in getting the Russian vaccine Sputnik V.

Above all, it is right “that the MP should tackle this together with the federal government”.
