He wanted to escape mandatory quarantine in Sweden due to the coronavirus pandemic.

A man from Norway was rescued this weekend in the mountains after trying to cross the border between his country and Sweden on skis.

“But to avoid quarantine he decided to cross the border through the mountains.

Prosecuted for violating anti-Covid measures

The journey planned by the 50-year-old was about 40 km.

The man found himself in difficulty after 25 km this Saturday at the end of the afternoon.

He was rescued by a reindeer herder and then handed over to two fishermen near Lake Essandsjø.

The latter then notified the emergency services.

The emergency services then handed him over to the police for violating the health rules of the Covid-19.

According to Norwegian health measures, the man should have tested negative and spent ten days in quarantine in a hotel.

"It goes even for a Norwegian citizen", underlined an official of the district of Trøndelag, where the facts occurred.

The fifty-year-old is currently in the quarantine he tried to escape, and will soon be heard for prosecution.

According to local media, the plan was for his son to pick him up by car after his outfit.

Authorities said the man was "pissed off and didn't apologize."
