Three factors influence this, he said.

“The first factor: gasoline in Russia is sold in rubles.

At the same time, it usually happened that the rise in oil prices led to the strengthening of the ruble, and vice versa.

Therefore, when the price of oil on world markets changes, its price in rubles usually does not change much - as a rule, it ranges from 3000 to 3500 rubles per barrel.

But in mid-March, when oil prices rose, the ruble did not strengthen.

Therefore, oil cost more than 5,000 rubles per barrel, ”he said.

The second factor is that the rate of rise in gasoline prices is quite smooth and does not follow the dynamics of oil prices, which can change by tens of percent up or down.

“The third point is that business is always reluctant to reduce retail prices.

Unfortunately, this is typical of the commercial sector.

Therefore, even before the damper, when oil prices fell, gasoline did not become much cheaper, ”Sorokin added.

Earlier it was reported that the average prices for gasoline in Russia for the week increased by 12 kopecks.
