H&M has not been found in Chinese Alibaba's trading platform Tmall and when you search for H&M in the map tool Baidu Maps, you no longer get any hits.
The massive online campaign is now followed by closed stores in China.
At least six stores have been closed in several major cities, according to the director of several shopping centers that the news agency Bloomberg has contacted.
Advertising signs for H&M have also been removed, writes Aftonbladet.
Local media report even more shutdowns.
According to Bloomberg, it is uncertain how long the stores will be forced to close.
Calls for a boycott
The continued development of events comes after the campaign launched on social media in China, which calls for a boycott of the clothing giant since H&M last year commented on working conditions and suspected forced labor in Xinjiang province.
- All trading from H&M online is stopped in China, said SVT's Asia correspondent Ulrika Bergsten on Thursday.
Calls for a boycott have come from, among others, the Communist Party's powerful youth union and the People's Liberation Army.
Löfven supports the decision
At a press conference on Friday, Prime Minister Stefan Löfven stood behind H&M.
- I think it is very good that companies take responsibility for the conditions of employees around the world, that employees are treated with respect.
- I also know that H&M has a good collaboration with the international trade unions, Löfven said.
SVT Nyheter has applied to H&M for the boycott, but the company has declined to comment.
