Mainz (dpa / lrs) - The Rhineland-Palatinate State Chancellery sees no further nationwide opening steps in view of the increasing infections with the corona virus.

"The number of infections is increasing across Germany, and even if they are significantly better in Rhineland-Palatinate than the national average, we are concerned about the development," said government spokeswoman Andrea Bähner on Thursday evening for the German Press Agency in Mainz.

"Therefore there can be no further opening steps nationwide."

In regions with an incidence of more than 100 new infections per 100,000 inhabitants in the past seven days, of course, the so-called emergency brake applies.

"Whether there can be" open with testing "in cautious steps in counties or urban districts with an incidence below 100, depending on tests, is currently being discussed," said Bähner.

There were also talks between the state and the municipal umbrella organizations, which have not yet been concluded.
