Berlin (dpa / bb) - Berlin wants to promote digital film production even more.
A special program launched by the Medienboard Berlin-Brandenburg in 2020 will therefore be increased by one million to a total of five million euros for 2020/2021.
The Senate Department for Economics announced on Thursday.
The producers can receive a grant of 20 percent for production costs incurred in Berlin or Brandenburg, up to a maximum of 500,000 euros.
According to the economic administration, the reason for the expansion of the funding program is the great demand despite the production restrictions caused by the corona pandemic.
15 applications with a volume of 4.8 million euros have already been received.
"By increasing the funding program for digital film production, we want to further support and expand this future industry," said Senator for Economic Affairs Ramona Pop.
Using digital effects, scenes could also be created that cannot be filmed in real life due to infection protection specifications.
