Seelow (dpa / bb) - In the Märkisch-Oderland district, citizens can already have themselves vaccinated against the corona virus in doctors' practices - although there is only one model project in the country so far.

This week, eleven practices took part and received 1200 vaccine doses from Biontech, said spokesman Thomas Berendt on Wednesday.

They are part of the vaccination campaign in the district as mobile vaccination teams in medical practices.

"That is also agreed with the country," he emphasized.

"This ensures that the people on site are vaccinated."

That is straightforward.

In the coming week, eight practices that received 1800 vaccine doses from Biontech should take part.

A model test by the Brandenburg Association of Statutory Health Insurance Physicians (KVBB) began in March.

This week, 43 doctors are said to be vaccinating against the corona virus in practices.

This is not yet possible in a regular way - the Federal Vaccination Ordinance has so far said: "Vaccinations in doctors' practices - apart from individual model projects - have not yet started."

In the next week there should be 50 practices, and a further 100 pilot doctor's offices are being planned at short notice.

The KVBB rejects the obligation of medical practitioners in Märkisch-Oderland.

"Such an intervention is completely unacceptable for us," criticized KVBB boss Peter Noack.

It had been decided with the state government and the municipalities that, as part of a model project, initially only 50 or 100 resident doctors would be involved in their practices and during home visits.

More than 1,100 practices have indicated that they want to support the project.

"The colleagues want to vaccinate, but are not allowed to do so outside of the model project."
