Küllstedt - (dpa / th) - Thousands of people in the Eichfeldkreis had to do without electricity for about an hour after a strong wind from the storm "Klaus" caused a crack in an overhead line.

A police spokesman said there was a complete power outage in six towns on Thursday evening.

However, the network operator was able to localize the damage and repair the line in a makeshift manner.

The places Büttstedt, Küllstedt, waxedt, Heuthen, Kreuzebra and Geisleden were therefore affected.

The electricity was gone from around 10:15 p.m. to 11:30 p.m.

The police spokesman said that there was no danger to the residents at any time.

There had already been brief power outages in the Saalfeld-Rudolstadt district on Thursday afternoon after three electricity pylons had been knocked down.

The storm "Klaus" swept over Germany on Thursday.

The focus was initially in the north and northwest.

In Thuringia, the German Weather Service (DWD) warns of gusty winds on Friday, and there could be individual thunderstorms at night.

At night and in the morning, light frost and slippery snow showers are possible above 800 meters.
