Hamburg (dpa / lno) - The first riddle about the American football team of the Hamburg Sea Devils has been solved: The American Ted Daisher will be the head coach of the Hanseatic League, which will be part of the newly founded European League of Football (ELF) from June onwards Fight touchdowns.

"We are very happy to have won such an experienced man like him for our franchise," says Max Paatz, General Manager of Sea Devils, about Daisher.

The 66-year-old from the state of Michigan is “the leader our team needs to be successful”.

After holding various positions in high school and college, the new head coach was also active in the North American professional league NFL.

As the person responsible for the so-called special teams, Daisher worked for the Philadelphia Eagles, the Oakland Raiders and the Cleveland Browns.

With the Eagles he was in the Super Bowl in 2006, but was subject to the New England Patriots.

The Sea Devils play in the EFL against five other teams from Germany as well as one team each from Spain and Poland.

The staffing of the teams and a schedule have not yet been published.
