05 March 2021 "In Italy, people are dying at the rate of 300 per day. And so I can certainly understand the high level of anxiety in Italy and in many countries across Europe. I am in a situation of unbridled crisis. This is not the situation in Australia ": Australian Prime Minister Scott Morrison said about Italy's decision to block the export of 250,000 doses of Covid-19 vaccine." This particular shipment was not the one we had relied on for the launch of the vaccination campaign, and therefore we will continue unabated ", reiterated Morrison as already pointed out by his Ministry of Health.

Meanwhile, the Minister of Health, Greg Hunt, announced that his country has asked the European Commission to review the Italian decision to block the export of vaccines, while stressing that what happened does not affect the vaccination campaign in Australia.

"Australia has raised the issue with the European Commission through several channels and specifically we have asked the European Commission to review this decision," Hunt said speaking to reporters in Melbourne.

The minister explained that Australia has already received 300,000 doses of the vaccine produced by AstraZeneca.

In the country, the campaign began two weeks ago with the vaccination of frontline health personnel and the elderly.
