The plan for deploying the Covid-19 vaccine in the DRC has been validated.

The first phase of vaccine introduction for the year 2021 will target the four provinces of the DRC most affected by the pandemic, namely Kinshasa, North Kivu, Kongo-Central and Haut-Katanga.

The official launch of the campaign is scheduled for Friday March 12.

The same day, health and political authorities, including ministers, will be concerned.

However, all the logistics are not yet ready.

We must support the structures that will organize operations in the field, train service providers and ensure the availability of funds to pay them.

Officially, the country expects from the Covax initiative nearly 7 million doses intended for about 10% of 70 million people, the estimated population of the DRC.

As the country intends to vaccinate 20% of its population, it will be up to the government and its other partners to cover the remaining part.

Discussions are underway, for example, to also integrate the Russian vaccine Sputnik V.

Arrival of #AstraZeneca vaccines, a 1st batch of 1.7M out of a total distribution of 6.9M doses for the #RDC.

The authorities are planning a symbolic vaccination of frontline health workers this Friday in #Kinshasa.
