For the first time, the deputies of the Parliament of Catalonia will have to specify their gender using a form that contains the following boxes:
"male, female, non-binary, I do not answer"
.
The parliamentarians have begun to receive through their respective groups the registration form to be completed as a prior requirement to collect the minutes and in it they are invited to define their sex beyond the biological one.
The declaration is part of
the Gender Equality Plan
approved by the Catalan chamber last legislature in order to promote "effective" equality between men and women and non-discrimination against the LGBTI community, reported this Tuesday in a statement.
Added requirement
Regardless of whether they sign the declaration or not, in order to gain the status of deputy, those elected must present the credential issued by the electoral administration in the General Register of Parliament and swear or promise the Constitution and the Statute.
As is clear from the regulations of the Parliament, the deputies will also have to present two declarations: one of professional, labor or business activities that they exercise and their public positions, and a declaration of assets that includes their assets, which will be made public in the transparency portal.
Once the Parliament is constituted, the deputies will have two months to present a declaration of economic interests, and, before July 30, a copy of the income declaration
