US imposed sanctions against two military men in Myanmar

“Today, the Office of Foreign Assets Control (OFAC) of the US Treasury Department imposed sanctions against two individuals associated with the military apparatus responsible for the coup in Myanmar,” the statement said.

Among those who fell under the sanctions were Lieutenant General Moe Myint Tun and General Maung Maung Kyaw.

The department also notes that it will continue to exert pressure on the Myanmar military in order to restore order in the country and release the detainees.

Earlier, the UK government imposed sanctions on Myanmar's defense and interior ministries, Mya Thun U and Sou Thut, amid a military coup in the country.
