China News Service, February 23. According to New Zealand's Tianwei.com, the New Zealand Immigration Service released information on the 23rd that the previously announced pilot project Pathway Student Visa was temporarily shelved.

The Immigration Department said that due to the new crown pneumonia epidemic and the subsequent border closure policy, the New Zealand Immigration Service postponed the introduction of the Pathway Student Visa (PSV) program.

The PSV visa is a pilot project introduced in 2015, allowing international students to study up to three courses in one or more qualified educational institutions with one visa.

Most importantly, the PSV visa eliminates the need for international students to prepare materials and submit applications multiple times, because the visa is valid for up to five years.

The Immigration Department originally planned to start this visa category permanently in early 2021.

However, in view of the visa requirements, the immigration bureau must wait until the border is open for a period of time before it can be implemented.

The currently implemented PSV visa is still valid.

In other words, educational institutions that are already PSV-certified will not be affected, and they can continue to provide guarantees for New Zealand students in the country or overseas students who meet the border exemption regulations; however, new educational institutions are no longer certified at this stage.
