Bad Homburg (dpa / lhe) - Four people were seriously injured in an accident involving three cars near Bad Homburg (Hochtaunuskreis).

The exact course of the accident still has to be reconstructed, said a police spokesman.

All those involved were so seriously injured after the accident on Sunday afternoon that they could no longer be questioned.

Based on the traces at the scene of the accident, the police initially assumed that a 28-year-old man with his car got into oncoming traffic on a country road.

There he apparently initially collided with a mini SUV that was driven by a 61-year-old man and a 60-year-old woman.

This car overturned and lay on the roof.

After that, the 28-year-old's car crashed head-on into a small car belonging to a 52-year-old, said the police spokesman.

Everyone involved was taken to hospital seriously injured.

Total losses occurred on the three cars.

The road was completely closed at the scene of the accident for about four hours.
