Mali: M5 organizes its first meeting in Bamako since the coup

In front of more than 200 people, the M5, movement which contributed to the fall of President IBK, organized in Bamako on Sunday its first meeting after the coup d'état of August 18.
The meeting was nevertheless held without the participation or support of Imam Mahmoud Dicko, who stepped back from this platform.

Still standing against the soldiers who took power and who refused to
co-lead the country with them
, the parties and associations of the M5 are remobilizing their troops, asking for rectification and good governance.
The Bamako Palace of Culture, place of the meeting, was for a moment crisscrossed by the forces, and M5 militants initially hesitated to go to the demonstration.
Everything is then back to normal, 2 hours behind schedule.
M5 supporters then set the scene for the meeting.
"
It's a show of force, we want to show people that M5 does exist
," explains an activist.
Against the current political transition, many criticisms have been formulated.

Our second requirement is to carry out major audits,
” Konimba Sidibé, one of the M5 officials

told the podium

Audit of public finances and domestic debt of the State, audit of the institutions of the Republic, the presidency, the National Assembly and all other institutions.

The M5 also calls for a rectification of the transition and the dissolution of the National Transitional Council, the CNT which
plays a role of legislative body
.
In the crowd present, voices were also raised to demand the outright release of personalities arrested in the context of "
an attempt to destabilize the state
".
