After a life-threatening hammer attack on a colleague in a nursing home in Wahlstedt, a man was sentenced to six years in prison.

The Kiel district court rated the attack on Friday as insidious attempted murder and dangerous bodily harm.

The 24-year-old also has to pay the injured party 25,000 euros in compensation for pain and suffering, as judge Jörg Brommann judged.

The jury ordered the man suffering from “atypical autism” to be placed in a specialist forensic clinic.

According to the expert report, the man represents a danger to the general public. (Ref .: 8 Ks 592 Js 42673/20)

"No doubt that the accused acted with intent to kill"

With a heavy hammer, the geriatric nurse suddenly hit the 21-year-old colleague's head from behind in a nursing home in Wahlstedt.

The woman suffered an open head trauma, had to receive intensive medical treatment and is still suffering from the consequences of the crime.

There is "no doubt that the defendant acted with intent to kill," said the judge.

Before the act, the 24-year-old had "increasingly dealt with the killing of her" in increasing fantasies of violence against women.

The young woman had only been employed in the home as a nursing assistant for a few weeks before starting her training.

According to the evidence, it is not only because of her resistance that she survived.

Her colleagues had rushed to help her.

According to the verdict, the defendant's mental illness had a mitigating effect.

Its severity is "so pronounced that it is astonishing that such a crime did not occur earlier," said Judge Brommann, referring to the expert.

At the time of the crime, the defendant knew that he was doing something prohibited.

However, his ability to control was considerably limited.

The accused's increasing fantasies of violence also included the fact that he was engaged in the most serious homicidal crimes, torture and rape on the Internet, the court found.

He bought the hammer especially for the crime and hid it in his locker.

The man in the home had already attracted attention with rough remarks.

The court followed the prosecutor's request with the ruling.

The defense attorney also advocated the permanent placement of his mentally problematic client in forensics.

The defendant was led into the room with his hands tied and tied to a belt.

The victim sat across from him, accompanied by her lawyer, among others.

She is in therapeutic treatment and is training in Hamburg.
