Hanover (dpa) - A 35-year-old from Dessau is said to have stabbed a young woman in Hanover.

The public prosecutor spoke of a "nightmare" in her plea, the co-plaintiff called it a "horror situation".

Both demanded life imprisonment for insidious murder for low motives, the particular gravity of the guilt should be determined.

The defense called for nine years in prison for manslaughter.

The 35-year-old did not plan the death of the young woman, said a defender.

Today (11.30 a.m.) the judgment will be announced at the Hanover Regional Court (Az. 39 Ks 7/20).

The man reportedly broke into the 23-year-old's apartment in January 2020 and stabbed her in her bathroom with a jackknife.

One day after the crime, the 35-year-old surrendered to the police in Dessau in Saxony-Anhalt and confessed.

According to the court, the two Germans met in July 2017, the defendant wanted a relationship.

His victim rejected him.
