Hanover (dpa / lni) - The Lower Saxony Association of Cities is demanding short-term help from the state government for city centers in the Corona crisis.

Today (12 noon) the Association of Cities intends to present a corresponding catalog of measures.

Economics Minister Bernd Althusmann (CDU), Environment Minister Olaf Lies (SPD) and the President of the Lower Saxony Chamber of Commerce and Industry, Uwe Goebel, also take part in the presentation.

The inner cities, whose traction had already waned in many places before Corona, are currently suffering from the closure of shops and restaurants in lockdown.

On February 25, the Lower Saxony Association of Towns and Municipalities (NSGB) also invites you to an “inner city summit”.

In addition to Althusmann and Lies, the minister responsible for regional development, Birgit Honé (SPD), will also take part.

«Especially the small and medium-sized towns and communities are currently facing the biggest renovation of their inner cities in this century.

If we do not massively steer the direction of further development now, we will lose much of what has shaped us, ”said NSGB President Marco Trips.
