In Lycksele, 300 new cases were found last week, a doubling compared to the following week.

It is the school that has been the hub in the spread of infection.

Since 1 February, there have been 217 reported cases linked to municipal activities.

Of these, 125 students, 81 municipal employees and 12 users are in housing.

- We have a general spread of infection and the infection is everywhere in society, says Kerstin Olla Gran, crisis management manager.

Appeals to parents: Keep children at home

Health and care is hard hit where there is a shortage of staff.

The municipality works to redistribute employees to cover up and also conducts screening where healthy staff are tested.

- We do this to find carriers who show no symptoms, says Kerstin Olla Gran.

The municipality has appealed to parents to keep their children at home if possible.

The possibility of receiving 15-hour children, ie children of parents who are on parental leave with siblings, has also been withdrawn.

"We have little capacity left"

So far, the municipality is able to run the activities without the help of nearby municipalities.

- We have some capacity left but we are in a very strained situation and expect to be there for a couple of more weeks, says Kerstin Olla Gran.

The municipality has completed the vaccination in special housing for the elderly and the staff in special housing and home care have received their first dose.

Vaccination of patients in home health care has now begun.

- We hope that this will have an effect, says Kerstin Olla Gran.
