The battery factory, together with the Västerbotten Region, has developed further measures to minimize contact between those who work at the factory and the rest of society, as well as further counteract the spread of infection in the workplace.

As of today, only three categories of workers will be allowed to continue their work:

• People with Covid-19 infection in the last 6 months.

• Persons who are temporarily living in Skellefteå, as the common assessment is that the spread of infection would not be reduced by these being laid off.

• Persons who maintain critical functions in order not to risk the safety and health of other employees.

Other workers at Northvolt One who permanently lives in Skellefteå or commutes weekly to the area will stay home from work.

No new work teams that do not work with critical functions will also be taken into the workplace.

The measures extend until February 25, or an earlier date if the spread of infection has slowed down so strongly that a new assessment can be made, Northvolt's communications manager Jesper Wigardt writes in a press release.
