Since 2010, the airport has been owned by Karlstad Municipality via the municipal company Karlstad City Hall.

During all the years since the takeover, it has made a loss and the forecast for 2021 is a deficit of almost SEK 35 million.

Now a dissenting regional board has said yes (MP and V voted against) to buy five percent of the shares in Karlstad Airport and to co-finance future deficits with fifty percent but never with more than SEK 20 million.

On Wednesday, February 17, the regional council will make the final decision on the matter.

The medical group, which has now sent a letter to all members of the council, emphasizes that climate change is one of the biggest threats to public health.

They do not see the need for the airport for, for example, ambulance flights as a reason for the region to co-finance the company.
