Berlin (dpa) - The corona vaccinations in homes and hospitals are making progress - and now it is mostly older people aged 80 and over who should get their vaccinations quickly - with an appointment.

But in addition to the shortage of the vaccine, the organization is also causing problems for many federal states when making appointments.

A survey by the German Press Agency shows in which countries things are crunching.

In NIEDERSACHSEN, appointments are made via a telephone hotline and a web portal.

Both are operated by Majorel Wilhelmshaven GmbH.

People who are 80 years of age and older can register.

But both the hotline and the website were initially overloaded.

Before the appointment was made, the state government had sent letters and relied on data from Swiss Post.

A number of the deceased accidentally received the letters - the outrage was great.

In SCHLESWIG-HOLSTEIN, the Ministry of Health has commissioned the ticket seller CTS Eventim to assign vaccination appointments.

In BADEN-WÜRTTEMBERG, however, according to the Ministry of Social Affairs, it is not planned to assign the appointment organization to external service providers.

Up to now, appointments have been made via the central telephone hotline 116 117 or - as in HAMBURG, HESSEN, NORTH RHINE-WESTPHALIA and SACHSEN-ANHALT - via the website www.impfterminservice.de.

In BADEN-WÜRTTEMBERG, especially from older people and their relatives, there was repeated criticism that the hotline could only be reached through a long queue and that there were no more appointments available online.

In addition, the lack of support for the way to the vaccination center was criticized.

The country wants to remedy both in the future.

The Federal Ministry of Health announced a possible overload of the hotline on request that the federal states were responsible for organizing appointments.

The federal government provides 116 117 as an information hotline, the capacities are sufficient.

“However, the federal states also use it to run the switch for their appointment hotline.

This can temporarily lead to bottlenecks. "

In SACHSEN-ANHALT, too, many complain about the overloading of the appointment hotline of the National Association of Statutory Health Insurance Physicians.

The online booking of appointments has so far been largely trouble-free.

Due to the shortage of vaccines, however, there were mostly - as in other countries - hardly any appointments available.

In HESSEN, senior citizens have been able to make vaccination appointments online and by phone since Wednesday.

However, as in the first round of allocation, there were again massive technical problems and long waiting times at the start of the second registration process - difficulties that overshadow the previous appointments in HAMBURG.

After initial difficulties in assigning appointments online and on the phone, the system in NORTH RHINE-WESTPHALIA has now apparently worked.

Due to the delivery problems at Biontech, the scheduled start of the vaccination centers had to be postponed to February 8th.

Here too, only people who are at least 80 years old and who have booked an appointment can be vaccinated.

BAYERN also uses multiple tracks when registering.

Those wishing to be vaccinated can register online via the BayIMCO portal; it is also possible to register by telephone at the local vaccination center on the nationwide number 116 117.

Seniors and relatives often complain about the difficult-to-use registration system.

In BERLIN's vaccination centers, appointments for people over 80 are also made by telephone or online.

In the second case, the Doctolib software is used, which is often used for making appointments in medical practices.

According to the health administration, several hundred appointments that had already been agreed had to be postponed due to delivery delays of the vaccine.

In THURINGIA, where the organization is also carried out via a website and a central hotline, the registration portal became the target of a cyber attack right from the start of vaccination registration at the end of December.

However, there has not yet been a massive cancellation or postponement of agreed appointments due to a lack of vaccines in the country.

Appointments are currently suspended due to the lack of a vaccine.

In SAARLAND the appointments are assigned via a vaccination list.

In SACHSEN and RHEINLAND-PFALZ there are also appointments via the online portal and telephone hotline.

Here, too, it sometimes got stuck in the beginning.

The main reason for the limited appointment allocation was the lack of a vaccine, it was said from SACHSEN.

According to the Ministry of Health, the experience in RHEINLAND-PFALZ is generally good: Small problems have always been resolved quickly.

On the other hand, some countries only use telephone appointments: in BRANDENBURG, the organization has so far only been done via 116 117. Because of the bottlenecks in the delivery of vaccines, thousands of vaccination appointments had to be canceled or rebooked.

In MECKLENBURG-VORPOMMERN, too, vaccination appointments are only given via a hotline.

According to the Ministry of Health, letters were sent to people over 80 who had their main residence in the state.

Only those who have received such a letter can call the hotline.

The system has been working well so far, they said.

Appointments in BREMEN also seem to run more smoothly than in other federal states.

Since the vaccinations in nursing homes have advanced, the health department has been inviting other old people to the vaccination by letter.

They then have to arrange the specific vaccination appointments via a hotline.
