Kordel (dpa / lrs) - After the collapse of a street due to a landslide near Kordel north of Trier, the slipped truck is to be recovered on Wednesday morning.

On Tuesday, a ramp was specially created at the accident site, said the spokeswoman for the State Office for Mobility (LBM) Rhineland-Palatinate in Koblenz.

This will then pull the vehicle out of the pit and onto the street.

According to LBM, there are still around 500 liters of diesel in the van that could not previously be pumped out.

On Monday, after rain, a road between Kordel (Trier-Saarburg district) and the Hochmark district collapsed over a length of around ten meters and about four meters deep.

A car and an unloaded timber truck, which were driving on the narrow road at the time, slid into the crater on the steep slope.

Some of the drivers (18 and 59) were seriously injured.

A normal recovery with a heavy-duty crane was not possible on the narrow road because there were not enough support options, according to the LBM.

The car and the trailer of the transporter had already been recovered from the depths on Monday.

The Südwestrundfunk had previously reported on the upcoming rescue.

After the vehicle was recovered on Wednesday, consideration was given to how to reconnect the around 40 residents of the now virtually cut off district of Hochmark as quickly as possible.

"The preparation of the forest paths over around five kilometers would require a lead time of up to three weeks," said the spokeswoman.
