  Brinken said at a hearing held by the Senate Foreign Affairs Committee on the 19th that the Biden administration would adjust US policies on the Iranian nuclear issue, the Palestinian-Israeli issue, the Yemen conflict, and arms control issues.

  Blinken, 58, graduated from Harvard University and Columbia Law School, speaks fluent French and has nearly 30 years of diplomatic work experience.

Brinken has a long working experience with U.S. President Biden. He served as his diplomatic advisor in the White House and Senate, and then served as Deputy Secretary of State during the Obama administration.

  Before the vote, Senate Majority Leader Schumer expressed his support for the personnel case, calling Brinken the "right candidate" to lead the US State Department.
