U.S. Deputy Secretary of State Campbell gave a speech on the 3rd in Washington, D.C., ahead of a summit meeting between Prime Minister Kishida and President Biden next week.

He expressed the prospect that Japan and the United States would agree to strengthen cooperation in the joint development and production of defense equipment and other products. The talks also confirmed that the Self-Defense Forces and the US Forces in Japan will review their respective command and control systems in order to facilitate cooperation.
