Düsseldorf (dpa / lnw) - Because they are said to have seriously injured a 38-year-old visitor to the old town, two police officers have to answer before the local court in Düsseldorf today (2 p.m.).

The 29 and 35 year old officials are accused of bodily harm in office.

According to the indictment, on October 15, 2017, at 5 a.m. in the old town, they separated two men who had beaten each other.

When one of the men tried to run away, the 35-year-old police officer is said to have held him and fixed him on the ground.

Then the 29-year-old is said to have first lifted the man, hit him and again fixed his knee and shin on the pavement for minutes.

Six other police officers had secured this according to the prosecution.

The 38-year-old treated in this way was defenseless and did not offer any resistance.
