Riots at an Eritrea event in Stuttgart sparked outrage. A 29-year-old has now been convicted in a first trial.

The man was charged with particularly serious breach of the peace and grievous bodily harm. He is also said to have attacked police officers during the protests. The verdict is not yet legally binding, SWR first reported. The public prosecutor's office had called for a prison sentence of four years. The defense argued that the man could not be clearly identified from photos and video recordings.
